CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS
Puppetry is an amazing means of encouraging expression in children, developing confidence, literacy, hand/eye coordination, team building and delving into the imagination. Sandglass is pleased to offer workshops and residencies for children in schools, libraries, festivals and other venues as well as a puppet camp for kids during the summer.
Sandglass can work with your school or program to customize workshops, residencies or other events!
Workshop
A two hour session in which we construct a simple puppet that is appropriate for the age group we are working with (ie. k-3: Sock puppets 4-up Marionettes or rod puppets)
and show basic techniques for bringing a puppet to life. Each participant gets to take their hand-made puppet home.
Residency
A workshop series which explores the adventure of creating a puppet show,
including puppet and set building, rehearsal and a final performance. Students will engage in team-building activities, develop performative skills, and learn how to manipulate a puppet. We can customize the story to support the curriculum being studied in the classroom.
