'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe.  All mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe. . .
Inspired by Lewis Carroll's famous poem, Jabberwocky! tells the tale of a young boy who sets out on a quest to find the fierce Jabberwock. Aided by his friends, the borogoves, he travels through a mysterious landscape filled with such peculiar creatures as the slithy toves and the Jubjub bird. The production uses a variety of beautiful hand and rod puppets to tell this rousing adventure story featuring daring deeds, imaginary animals and a climactic battle between boy and beast. A terrific show for all ages!

Sandglass Theater's Ines Zeller-Bass

Isidor's Cheek
Saturday February 6 at 2 & 4 pm

Lazy Isidor never went out.  He just stayed at home merely lolling about…
So begins the song, which begins the story, which begins the adventure: One day, something drives Isidor from out of his little grey existence. His cheek runs away, and Isidor must search around the world to find it again: a world of color and beauty, as well as loneliness and even danger.

Ines Zeller Bass performs Isidor's Cheek on a revolving table filled with all the details of Isidor's miniature world: from his shabby grey house to a forest of apple trees, through an unfriendly city, across a sea of turtles and barracuda, into the smallest circus in the world. The table revolves to bring Isidor home again and to transform his house, his garden and indeed his whole outlook on life. Isidor himself is barely 5 and 1/2 inches high (14 cm), an appropriately little hero for a small story with a big heart. An ideal performance for audiences age 4-9 and their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

Nappy's Puppets

Jack and the Beanstalk
Saturday, March 13 at 2 & 4 pm

Sandglass welcomes back Jim Napolitano of Nappy's Puppets, who wowed audiences at the 2006 Puppets in the Green Mountains festival. Based on an Appalachian version of the famous folktale, Nappy's Jack and the Beanstalk is presented as a four part mini-series. In between segments is a roller coaster ride of short stories, vignettes and songs from children's literature, traditional puppet theater, and the imagination of the puppeteer, featuring Little Jack Horner, Jack and Jill, Jack B. Nimble, and Jacks of all trades. The show features hand crafted shadow figures and is fast paced, action-packed, and full of laughs for everyone! Jim is one of the finest shadow puppeteers in America. Don't miss him!
